Maryland's lovely and wildly popular governor recently announced several cuts to budgets that help fund various programs and non-profit organizations including the one I work for. The state department that helps fund one of our operational grants learned last week that it's budget would be cut by $65 million.
In in email today addressed to each of the Directors and Managers, the Deputy Director of the company I work containing some pretty unprecedented directives and other cost-cutting measures. She advised us that departments need her explicit approval before moving ahead with purchases. She asked us to relive all non-essential employees of any travel duties and to significantly reduce lodging costs for clients and other outsiders we bring in for for stuff.
